Early in my career, I worked in a new and rapidly growing department where I was often looked to as one who would listen when our processes were failing. It was my natural inclination to take information that people were sharing with me, zoom out and then pursue how we could advocate for a better system or structure that may help many individuals and make for a stronger organization overall. I couldn't have named it at the time, but I soon discovered my innate desire to think like a sociologist.
